I spent time as a teenager being a companion to my elderly grandparents, playing cards with them, taking them to shop and to medical appointments, as well as to visit friends.
The next opportunity I had to care for seniors was at a home care agency where I was a companion and chauffeur.
Finally, the last 16 months I have provided care for my disabled mother with MS and been a companion to my 84 year old grandmother.
