Danielle’s Bio
My name is Danielle Bragg I'm 23 years old and I'm currently an In Home Care Provider. I adore being around the elderly and just being a companion for them. I enjoy their wisdom, they know what it's like to be young, but I don't know what it's like to be old so just hearing their insight is a blessing to me. A lot of what I do is pretty similar to babysitting just with an elderly client.
Right now I work for a woman who is suffering from dementia and diabetes. Her routine starts with checking her sugar in the morning when she wakes up. I get to work an hour or two before just to make sure I have everything prepared.
I write down her sugar levels in a book I keep and give her the insulin shot. I make a small breakfast, usually oatmeal, cereal, or eggs and wheat toast. After breakfast I give her daily medication, that I keep organized in a pill container with the days of the week on it.
Once she's had breakfast and medication, she showers and I clean the bed sheets and covers. Around lunch we check her sugar again and log it, because she's a diabetic I don't cook things with carbs or high fats so lunch will be tuna or a salad, something light.
She's pretty easy company to keep. She likes to watch TV but I try to get her interested in other things so sometimes we go for a short walk or work on puzzles, just anything to keep her mind busy.
Bed time is pretty much like the morning. I check her sugar again, that helps me determine what to make for dinner, if it's too high we eat a very light dinner, sometimes we opt for a snack if it's way too high, but usually her sugar is fine and I'll cook something like salmon. She takes her night time medication and insulin and off to bed.
