Arturo’s Bio

I have worked with youth for 20 years at different capacities, ranging from peer mentor, tutor/teacher's aide, to art instructor. For starters, I worked as a multicultural art instructor at La Maestra, an after school program for children K-6. Additionally, as a tutor/teacher’s aid, I co-facilitated educational space for 60 children weekly. This experience taught me a lot about patience, discipline, assertiveness, care, compassion, hard work, as I found ways to build trust with youth in the classroom. Building on my experience as an art instructor, I started my own arts education-based business as an independent contractor and provided a therapy session for a whole family. I led the 1-year-old baby girl, 8-year-old boy, mother, and father, through a painting exercise to restore peace, harmony, and love. My experience has shown me that although working with children may have its ups and downs it is a blessing which has contributed to me becoming the man I am today. After transferring from Community College in San Diego, I earned my B.A. in Indigenous / American Indian studies, with a focus in sustainable agricultural practices, at UCLA in 2015. I am confident that my two decades of experience working in the area of youth education will make me an excellent caregiver for children.

I became a caregiver because providing support for children is fulfilling and nurturing for my own personal development. Over time, I have developed a deep love and passion of providing care and guidance for children. I know that through the skills, tools, and strengths I've obtained, my confident leadership will be very influential for youth’s mental and emotional growth. I am an outstanding caregiver for youth because I'm an excellent listener and communicator, who practices patience, demonstrates compassion, and feels empathy for all people whom I work with. Moreover, I'm a dedicated hard worker whose motivation always derives from a place of integrity and am willing to lend a helping hand wherever it may be needed.
