Zoe’s Bio
I currently work part time at a non-profit organization in San Jose called Parents Helping Parents. I am a Family and Community Support Specialist and my job is to support, empower and help parents of children and adults with a variety of special needs. I have an older brother with Autism and Epilepsy and as such, have lifelong experience helping with his care. I am IHSS certified and have experience working with an infant with Down Syndrome and a young adult with Autism, OCD, and ADHD. I have been caregiving since 2009 but my experience with seniors extends much longer. I was actively involved in the care of my grandparents, whom I was very close to (both physically and in our relationship).
I do not have any children myself or pets but I love children and animals--especially dogs! I am allergic to cats if around them for too long.
I have done a variety of volunteer work over the years--everything from teaching ESL to Spanish-speaking day laborers in Pomona, CA to interning at California Rural Legal Assistance in Watsonville.
I can read, write and understand Spanish fluently, my communication is also very good.
My caregiving philosphy is to always be safe, stay active and have fun!
I am a dancer and a musician so I love dancing, playing music, singing and doing any activity outdoors. I especially love make-believe and storytelling.
