Larissa’s Bio
I have been working as a caregiver for a friend's parents for two years. This work is not something I ever planned for or even considered, but the experience has proven to been quite rewarding personally. Twelve years ago I chose to quit my job to be a stay home mom. During that time I have worked rather independently, taking jobs that allowed me to still be available for my kids/parents while making a little money on the side. Two years ago, circumstances led me to helping a friend's parents as their health was suffering and they needed help with day to day tasks. At first, household chores, shopping and meal prep summed up their needs. Over time, they became more dependent on help for medications, trips to doctor appts., showering, grooming, etc. I have experience offering support with cancer, diabetes, chemotherapy, radiation, chores, finances, communication w/doctors, family and keeping all parties informed and up to date. Although the work can be physically and often times emotionally draining, I do believe it is still more rewarding than your average 9-5 job. I am also a licensed cosmetologist, so I learned to really listen to my clients and address their needs/wishes accordingly. I am often told I have a gentle, caring spirit and I am truly humble at heart. I do not have any official licenses or certifications as a caregiver, but am considering pursuing them to continue the work independently. I am self-taught in this field, and find that it comes so naturally to me. Caring for others is what I do, and I cannot deny that this may be my calling. I do still have children in school, and parents with health issues, and this work has enabled me the flexibility to be available to them as needed. I am organized, responsible, caring, honest and aim to please. Anything else you'd like to know? I'd be happy to meet and discuss possibilities. I also have a letter of recommendation to account for my work ethic.
