Ruta’s Bio
I am a 22 year old junior at the University of Bridgeport double-majoring in Religion and Politics and Social Sciences with an interest in Occupational Therapy. My love for care-giving comes from a passion for human connection, healing, and improving quality of life for people in all stages and situations. I have experience caring for children, geriatrics, and people of varying developmental, mental, and physical disabilities. My care-giving experience began at age 14 when my family moved in with my aging grandparents, who I became employed to care for by Public Partnerships from ages 16-19. My grandfather was wheel-chair bound and suffered from Parkinson's Disease and dimension, and my grandmother was mostly blind and very frail. Here I learned transferring techniques, medication administration, transportation to medical appointments, bathing and hygiene, meals, and the joys of companionship. After high school I lived for a year in a home for people with developmental disabilities and refugees, learning more about care-giving for all types of people. I am certified in first aid and CPR, but most importantly have a genuine interest in knowing and helping people, and find reward in doing so.
