April P. Care Companion in Broomfield, CO 80021

I have grown up surrounded by family members who care for others. My maternal grandmother was a care companion. My paternal grandmother is still volunteers at her local hospital, at the ripe age of 85. My aunt is an LPN and helped launch me into this field. I use to go to work with her when she was an administrator of an assisted living. I would spend all day at her work and I would bounce around from person to person, spending time with each.
Since then, I've realized that I have a huge soft spot for the elderly. I have been volunteering at SAGE of the Rockies since I moved to Colorado in 2014. That volunteer position lead me to find my current job as an activities assistant at a nursing home in Lakewood, CO. While I do love my residents, I am looking for more one-on-one attention.
I am looking to help out with any light housekeeping tasks, transportation, medication reminders, playing games or movies, reading to or anything else I can help you or your family member get through the day.
I have previously worked as a live in caregiver to an elderly gentleman for over two years. I helped him with his daily tasks like meal prep, medication reminders, transportation to/from appointments and errand running.
Please note that I am NOT a CNA nor can I do heavy lifting of over 50 lbs.
