I am an energetic mother of one beautiful daughter, who is just graduating high school next month. Now that she is going away to college, I am looking for fulfilling work while being adequately compensated.

For a few years (2?), I worked as a companion and caregiver for a dear friend. She was a joy. We seemed more like best friends than employer/employee as I took her to appointments, events, made lunch, dispensed medications, etc. After my employers/friends death, my elderly mother moved to CT so I could look after her. She lived in senior housing a few blocks away and I helped her with appointments, medications, errands, meals, etc. Her daily living skills were excellent, however she was afflicted with Alzheimers which affected her decision-making capabilities. After taking care of her here for 2 1/2 years, she moved to KS to be near one of my brothers. Currently, I volunteer at two local senior housing facilities.

Although this software asks the user to classify themselves as either "baby sitter," "nanny," "pet sitter," "elder caregiver," I wouldn't personally classify myself as just any one of those things. I am a caregiver, equally at home in an atmosphere of walkers, wheelchairs, and hearing and memory-loss as I am in an atmosphere of coloring books, crayons and toy cars.

I'm not sure what else would be pertinent-I do not smoke, drink coffee, or alcohol. I love the outdoors, photography, art, museums and music, not necessarily in that order.

Also, please note that the rates listed below would be better listed as a range. Typically $15-20/depending on duties. Transportation rates would depend on location traveling to. Current federal mileage rate is 54 cents/mile. Running to the store a block away is one thing; doctors appointments several miles away take a toll on the vehicle in addition to my time.
