I don’t have certifications but I have life experience. I am a mother of 3 children and grandmother of 5 active boys. I was a nurses aide in high school and a Therapeutic Recreation director in a convalescent home for 3 years and rest home for 2 years. After I had my children I was a stay at home mom. I babysat for my sisters son for 11 years, we were pregnant at the same time. When my in-laws were about 82 I began assisting them with everyday life. Grocery shopping, cloths shopping and all their doctor appointments. My father in law had dementia, had a catheter, hip replacement and I gave him his insulin shot, and helped him dress and undress at doctors appointments. My mother-in-law used a walker to get around and needed help with daily house hold chores. She had a double knee replacement and had stoke right after surgery. Brought both of them to therapy and helped her bath while recuperating. This went on for 12 years.
I also did part time care for a 86 year old women at her home. I went over late morning to help her bathe, change her diaper and get her dressed. Then I prepared lunch for her , vacuumed her house and cleaned her kitchen. At night if I went over I helped her put her PJs on get washed up and remind her to take her pills. I would set her hair before bed and she always had a cup of tea and cookies before I left. She always asked her daughter when I was coming back. I consider myself a very patient and caring person.
