I am a PhD student working towards a career in medicine. I have been a volunteer throughout high school at various assisted living facilities and have been a caregiver for my grandmother with dementia for two years. I currently am a hospice volunteer and love helping others through socialization or daily tasks. A big factor in quality of life for individuals as they age is socialization, and as many people tend to retreat as they become less mobile, this can contribute to worsened mental health.
