I'm a 41 year old mom with an empty nest. I left the service of the USAF to be a homemaker and raise my son. During that time I experienced helping to care for some of my senior family members, including my grandmother who had Alzheimer's and grandfather who was blind from glaucoma. I have experience caring for other senior adult issues in the capacity of helping my father-in-law in his process through cancer,and then open heart surgery recovery.
I attended college with an eye towards teaching focusing on many psychology electives as a part of that which has helped me to understand the challenges of aging. Ultimately I decided that the large formal classroom was not the place for me however, so I stopped attending UCF less than a year shy of graduating. A thorough background check had to be done, including fingerprinting, in order for me to work in the school classrooms with children during the many service hours required as a part of my education courses.
I'm married, over 16 years, to a LCSO deputy, and I have current CPR and first aide certification. I have been through the class multiple times and my husband keeps me updated on the current changes to CPR best practices. We have dogs who now stand in as our 'kids' at home, so pets are never an issue! Also, due to my husband's schedule, late or early hours are not a problem, My schedule is very flexible.
Reading, time outside gardening or fussing over house plants, cooking and caring for people are some of my personal favorite ways to spend my free time.
