I had worked with a Client as his companion; I was responsible to be, on time for work, I was to get my client up, assist in bathing, dressing, grooming. Once dressed, I would prepare meals, as client ate I would go back to the room and clean the bathroom, dust, vacuum the bedroom, make the bed, and change linen if needed, then maybe do Laundry, folding clothes, and ironing if needed, wash dishes, if they have plants I would water them, tend to any pets if the client has pets, as you see very general light housekeeping. I provide medication, or medication reminders (sometime this is done more than once a day.) Usually it’s the client’s choice of activities. The Client may choose to go grocery shopping, run errands, or has an appointment and off we go. Sometimes the recreational activity may be simple such as reading and, or playing games. When family is involved sometime I am asked to record daily care notes to family, and any significant changes in health. This type of job allow an individual to work with a person of need one on one in their own home with all of their thing, it’s very personal working this job and you get to know a person in a way that I believe I would never have known had the client been in a hospital, home assisted living or a group home
