The vast majority of my experience has been in human services. I guess you could say it's through this field that I developed such a passion for people. I was laid off a year ago and was presented with an opportunity to be a caregiver for a wonderful older spanish couple. The husband was ill and had to be placed in a facility. I was a companion for both during this process of rehabilitation. Unfortunately, employment ended as the spouse passed away. These were some of the best times taking pictures, getting ice cream, going on walks etc. In addition, when I was 14 I became a partial caretake for my mother who was dying of cancer. As you can imagine this was extremely difficult but gave me a whole new outlook on caring for people and going above and beyond to help improve one's quality of life. I thoroughly enjoy working with the elderly and feel they have so much wisdom to offer and are some of the most kind and funniest people you will ever meet. I do not have medical training. I provided minor assistance such as companionship, feeding, going on walks, providing motivation during rehab, engaging in activities, etc. I look forward to the opportunity to serve with that of a humble servant's heart through caring for your loved one.
