For many years, I have been an educator, daycare provider and been so fulfilled taking care of others. I have always enjoyed older folks and loved to listen to their stories. For many years my parents lived in an assisted living facility. Every Sunday I brought my children to visit their grandparents. During these times, we got to know many of the residents. I grew very fond of so many of the neighbors of my parents. I discovered how much I truly loved both the young and old. To me, listening to whatever they wanted to share was so wonderful. It not only taught my children to respect, care for and listen to older people, but how valuable it was for them to retell their tales and speak of family members. Their memories were so interesting to hear and I loved the experience. I am currently taking care of small children for ta local family and enjoy it greatly. However, I feel with myself getting older, that I would like a change. This type of position would be rewarding to me and also the person I would give care to.
