My name is Ashley & I am 32 with both hands on as well as educational experience working and caring for elderly. . My educational background is Human Services & I've worked with various families both in child care and as an aid or companion for a families loved one. in 2009 I took on a secondary job while in college working with a gentleman who suffered from dementia. He was sadly in the later stages of the disease and was non verbal and needed assistance in basically everything, including going to the bathroom, getting dressed, eating etc; I also worked part time in an assisted living/nursing home for elderly and people suffering from mental health issues. I did this also as a secondary job while I worked at a law firm which specialized in elder law. I was a paralegal/case worker and assisted families in obtaining Medicaid for their loved one who was in either rehab and needing to go into a nursing home or already in a nursing home. I have such a heart and passion for working with people and always say, if you want or need some perspective on life, have a conversation with a 5 year old and a 95 year old. As a two time cancer survivor, I learned at a very young age that my sole purpose in life is to help others and used my life experiences and tragedies as a catapult to get me where I am today. Throughout my years of experience with both children and elderly, I've learned so much. I share my various experience in hopes it presents and introduces the type of person I am. One with extreme patience in which I've learned & developed throughout my privileged journey and experience. As well as shines some light on some of the challenges, higher stress & higher maintenance dynamics I was lucky enough to work through. My experiences both professional and personal have shaped me into the multi qualified care taker and care provider I am.
