I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Georgia Southern University, and I plan to go back to school to pursue a nursing degree. I also enjoy working with horses, horseback riding, and playing the violin (especially in an orchestra).

I have some experience helping care for my grandmother, including housework and helping her use a medical device. I also enjoy simple companion visits with her, where we might play games or put a puzzle together.

For four months, I volunteered as a companion with the inpatient unit at Sacred Journey Hospice (SJH). Depending on patient preference, I conversed with some and sat quietly with others. I believe that the patient should decide how the visit should go.

I decided to become a volunteer for SJH because I wanted to gain experience working with patients. I enjoyed serving as a companion because I had the opportunity to meet patients from different walks of life. I showed compassion and empathy to each patient. Sometimes, I listened to patients tell their stories. While serving as a regular volunteer, I was also trained as a vigil volunteer.

I currently serve as the Clinic Aide at a middle school, where I provide care and education to students, including first aid and/or CPR when necessary. I am open to caring for people of all ages.
