Bianca L. Care Companion in Waianae, HI 96792

My name is Bianca Loving, and yes, that's my legal name. I was born on the island of Oahu and lived in Waianae until I was around the age of 6 or 7, at which point my family moved to Las Vegas. I graduated from Green Valley High School (a semester early), and dove head first into college coursework at the College of Southern Nevada, while simultaneously taking lab classes at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. I've been a CNA, medical receptionist, x-ray technician, massage therapist, swim coach, lifeguard instructor, you name it. I'll be honest though, my favorites were the ones in which I was in a position to make people feel good, healthy, happy, got them to exercise (with a little bit of excitement, too!), or if I was enabled to help and/or teach another person. My own grandma has been in several different "At Home" or "In Home" care/companion programs since I was about 8yrs old, which is around the time that she taught me to use a glucose meter to check her blood sugar, how to determine the amount of insulin she needed, and how to administer it-using both the old school vial and syringe, and the newer insulin pens. We've always had a close relationship and to this day I spend every minute of my free time with her. I know her in-home nurses and companions as closely as if they really were a part of our family. Shortly after my immediate family moved to Las Vegas, Grandma Loving came to live with us for a few years to help take care of me while my parents were at work. She taught me how to speak, read and write in Spanish; how to cook and prepare traditional Puerto Rican meals; the importance of being flexible and/or adaptable when necessary; how to know when those capabilities genuinely are necessary vs. when you're really just trying to wiggle your way out of a difficult situation; and countless other things that have made me the woman and mother that I am today. I think the bond between us is the source of my interest in a healthcare/companion-care oriented job field. I know I can succeed in a position where I'll be caring for, spending time with, getting to know, and working around others that could potentially benefit from my help and companionship.
