I am a very empathetic individual who enjoys working independently, who needs to be needed, and is truly respectful of those who have experienced adversity or challenges. I am a good listener, am tidy, and respectful of others. Although I do not have any certifications in caregiving, I am a licensed security guard, and working hard to find a I am looking for a part time position that is fulfilling to me but also allows me to be autonomous ( I need to be around people)
In 2012, I was trained to work at Windsor Manor's memory care unit where I supervised the unit alone during my shift, provided support to the residents by keeping them chatting while we did activities. I gave baths, served meals, and tidied up around the residents. It was fulfilling because I could always make them smile. And I still remember them. I left the position because I did not feel comfortable passing medication, nor taking nursing responsibility due to short staff and a conflicting schedule.
I love animals, however, am allergic to cats. I view pets as little people and very important to their owners. Though I have reliable transportation, I currently would like to work within the city limits of Ames because I am not so comfortable with interstate driving.
