Hello! My name is Amber.
I am going to be moving to Ames with my husband and our 2 boys. I currently work for COC (Christian Opportunity Center). I work with adults who have intellectual disabilities. I'm a Living Skills Advisor. I will get the residents up and dressed for the day. I'll shower them. I help them to the bathroom, and change their briefs. I pass meds. I cook. I do their laundry. I clean. I do dishes. I take them out in to the community. I take them shopping, out to eat, to the zoo, to the movies and so on. I have been at this job for almost 5 years. All throughout my school years (elementary, middle and high school), I ALWAYS made friends with the kids who needed a little extra help. I would teach them things. They always came to me and I LOVED it!
I'm pretty much a caretaker. I absolutely love this job! I'm shy at first, but, once you get to know me, I have a bubbly personality. I'm easy to get along with. I'm outgoing. I am CPR certified. I know simple first aid. I love to have fun and joke with my residents. I promise you that I will do my best to make everyone feel comfortable in their home.
