I was certified as a NA in my mid 20's at University of Iowa hospital and clinics. I went to school for Nursing to be an RN at Kirkwood in Iowa City. I'm happily married, with three grown children and one grandchild. We are an unconventional mixed family and celebrate diversity in all it's forms.
I have cared for many people with different needs both inside and outside the hospital environment. I'm comfortable working with many types of people's medical and emotional needs. If a person needs help from a mobility stand point I have experience operating lifts, chairs and slides; due to my own medical limits I cannot lift them myself.
One of the reasons I left healthcare is that I felt I never got to really connect with my clients due to having 12 at a time to care for in a shift. One of the other reasons is getting sick myself. It has been a long road. I'm cleared to work part time now, and I am so ready for it! I am not certified as a NA or RN at this time (actually I'm licensed as a cosmetologist in IL now), but I always keep my CPR up to date.
Whether it be bathing, feeding, med care, transportation, light chores, meals, a card game and listening to some good long stories- I'm here to make connection <3
