Hi there, I’m Jessica. I have worked more than 10 years in the field of in-home private childcare, also known as a “Nanny.” Around 2014, I took some time off and moved in with my full-time working mother to help her care for my then-89 year old grandfather in a semi-assisted living complex. He had several minor strokes, had lost most of his mobility, and lifelong 90% deafness, but we managed to make his last 3 years as healthy, stimulating, and full of laughter that we could. The bond I developed with him, as well as the community of elderly people living around us, is something that changed my life as well. I have strong connections to my Native American heritage, and was deeply re-reminded of the vital role and wisdom of our Elders that our current society often forgets. There seem to be a million options for childcare, but this doesn’t seem to hold as true for our dear Elders. I would like to take a step toward changing that. :)
