Hello,
My name is Tamaria Smith-Gillespie and I'm passionate about helping seniors and ensuring that they experience a good quality life.
The majority of my career experience has involved working in the senior living and senior care industry. I have experience working as a caregiver in the home, in the senior living industry, (Activities Dept, Administration Dept) and as a Care Manager. I have a bachelor's degree in Gerontology, Geriatric Care Management Certification, and a certification as an Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care Trainer. As a Care Manager, one of my job responsibilities involved training the new caregiver on how to provide care in the home.
Why do I want to provide companionship for seniors? As mentioned in the beginning, I'm passionate about helping seniors, love them and enjoy spending time with them. I have an understanding of the issues that they deal with and various ways to address it. I'm not your typical senior companion. After working in the Activities Dept in the senior living I learned the importance of staying active and activities throughout the day. My method is to find out the person's like and dislikes to put together an activity plan if they choose to participate. If not, reminiscing usually works.
I'm looking for a part-time position that is within my area of passion, that will allow me the flexibility that I need. With me, you will be getting a person experienced in caregiving, companionship, activities, and an eye to see various non-medical problems associated with seniors. I look forward to speaking with you.
