I currently work as a Teacher’s assistant for LABBB collaborative at Lexington high school since October, working with kids with Autism spectrum, Down syndrome and others with physical or intellectual disabilities, we work to provide the most safest and efficient ways to help them to adapt and succeed as individuals in the outside world.

I also was a residential counselor at the Merrimack Center JRI, an Intensive Residential Treatment Program (IRTP) for youth with mental health diagnoses and intellectual disabilities. In my role as a residential counselor, I am responsible for supervising all resident activities including ADLs, IADLs, group therapy, school participation, and leisure. I utilize de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed care each day in order to prevent the use of manual restraint. This position has helped me to develop improved time management skills, as well as communication skills with coworkers and supervisors.

In addition to my skills and experience, it is important to note that I am a native Spanish speaker who is also fluent in English. This allows me to work with a diverse population of students while being culturally sensitive and mindful of their backgrounds.

And even more importantly i choose to work in this area because i love knowing that my work and my efforts are actually helping someone for real.
I love what i do and that makes me work with passion and happiness.
