Hello. I became a caregiver first for my mother in law in 1998 in order to take care of her at home. I took care of her needs and learned that I liked taking care of people and making their life better. Prior to that I had raised parrots for over 20 years.
I then in 2006 starting taking on private clients that were advertised in the newspaper that gave training with the position. I worked with private clients in their homes through Northeast Arc, Easter Seals and a few other organizations. I learned how to handle different disabilities and illnesses quite successfully.
I found that each client's needs were different and I worked to find out the best way to be able to help contribute to each clients' well-being. I learned to adapt to each individual with both their needs and lifestyle.
I work for a couple of different agencies that catered not only to individuals living at home but also within different facilities.
In addition to on the job training, I furthered my education obtaining my Medical Assisting Certification as well as Certified Nursing Aide certification along with current CPR and First Aid training
I believe in helping the entire person, not only with personal care, ADL's and medical issues but also helping them to be active and being involved in what interests them. It is important that my clients are happy while in my care and I do everything possible to see that happens.
I provide meal preparation, housekeeping, along with transportation to doctor visits, to shop and/or recreational activities. I try to engage my clients in something daily to exercise their bodies and their minds by getting to know them and their interests.
I am a mature, dependable, professional individual. I have several references available for you to speak with. I also have a couple of care giver friends that are also mature, dependable and well liked. We help each other out by being able to fill in for one another due to illness or some other unforeseen reason that I may not be able to do my shift. Honestly, that does not occur too often.
I have many references for your review as well. I am available hourly/min 4 hour shifts, 8 hour and 12 hour shifts as well as 24 hour care. I am available M-F and some wk ends. I have reasonable rates and am insured and bonded.
