My name is Joanne. First, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I worked as an accountant for 10 years for an insurance company, but once I had children I decided to quit the workforce and be a stay-at-home mom. I have been lucky enough to do this for the past 18 years. My kids are getting older now and it's time for me to get back into the work force. I have no desire to go back into an office job. For the last two years I have been taking care of my elderly dad, 91 years old, until he recently passed of cancer. I decided, while taking care of my father, that this is the career path I would like to head down.
After my dad passed I started to work with two elderly women and a man with early signs of dementia. I visit with them in the morning and prepared their meals for the day, light housework, and keeping them company.
I enjoy everything about the elderly from listening to their wonderful stories to tending to their every need.
