Prior to hiring Tanya, I set up an in-person interview with her. She called me about an hour before the interview to let me know her daughter had been in a car accident. We rescheduled the interview and I ultimately hired her. After she completed her first week, she asked for her pay in cash rather than waiting for the direct deposit. A few hours after I paid her via PayPal, she texted me to let me know her mom had broken her arm and she was quitting the job.
