My interest in caregiving work began with my grandmother. Several years ago my grandmother started showing signs of dementia overtime she needed more and more help around the house and needed family to come over and stay with her more and more. It was at this point that I stepped up to help take care of her. At first I was only coming over a couple days ago but by the end I was with her all the time. It was during this time that I gained an understanding of elder care and I pursued this after she passed and has helped since then take care of other people with similar needs and now I have a passion for helping people who also have family members who need help providing them with the same care that I would provide my own family.
