Throughout my life, I've loved spending time with elders, from visiting nursing homes with my youth groups to spending time with my grandparents.
In the fall of 2018, I began working with a nonagenarian woman who was continuing to live in her own home. I was part of an informal care team who visited her twice a day each day, helping her with meals, going up and down the stairs, and showering. I continued working with her until she passed in the spring of 2023. Through those years, our care team has been brought on to work with two other elders who are living alone, assisting them with basic home care and providing cheerful company.
