Hi! I’m Elaine. I’m a dance/movement therapist, specializing in working with older adults and people with dementia. I am also an activities coordinator at an assisted living community. I am extremely passionate about enriching the lives of older adults and people with dementia through activities tailored to each individual’s interests and abilities. I believe in meaningful activities, encouraging individuals to learn new skills or return to a favorite hobby from the past, with the goal of alleviating feelings of hopelessness and helplessness. As a dance/movement therapist, I am trained in nonverbal communication and relationship building. These skills are incredibly useful in working with individuals with dementia, especially as they begin to lose the ability to communicate verbally. I know how challenging caring for a loved one can be, and how important it is to take time for yourself. My college education (Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees), along with my work experience in adult day programs, assisted living communities, and memory care communities have prepared me for being a knowledgeable, skilled, compassionate, and caring companion for your loved one. Whether for two hours or ten hours, I am happy to provide your loved one with the companionship they deserve while you take the well deserved time you need away from home.
