I worked as a personal aide for an 85-year-old woman with severe dementia. During our mornings and afternoons together, we would eat breakfast and lunch, go on walks, read the newspaper, play games, sing songs, and other activities depending on the day. I would also have to remind her to perform hygiene tasks such as brushing teeth, washing hands, and wiping after using the restroom. Every moment was a new adventure, and it was so much fun! I also was fortunate enough to have two grandparents live until I was 20. I would often remind them to take medications if I was visiting, and always enjoyed chatting about "the old days".
