Anjanette’s Bio
Hi, I am the single mother of two my son is 26 Demontez and my daughter is 17.Jshunna. my daughter is a senior in high school this year and my son is a special education teacher and a coach in the West Point High School System where my daughter is attending this year. I started being a caregiver in 1995. I was laid off my job when my grandfather was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I moved in with my grandparents to help take care for him ,taking him back and forth to doctors appointments and staying with him while he was in the hospital . I was taking care of both of them because she had arthritis really bad. I was cooking, cleaning ,giving tthe just whatever they needed that made it easier for them, I did. My grandfather passed away in September of 95 from his cancer it was hard for my family but we made it through not having to see him at all that pain anymore May the transition easier. My grandmother fell and broke her hip in 97 and after that she wouldn't leave home so I stayed with her for quite some time and care for her and I just enjoy doing it. In December of 2000 about two days before her first birthday my daughter was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. That was the most terrifying time in my life not knowing everything that she would go through but God bless her she went through six months of chemo and also came down with asthma and she also became anemic. I prayed myself through her journey because I want to be able to take care of my daughter and he blessed me with the knowledge the patience and the love to be able to care for my daughter at home. I was a very fortunate parent to be able to bring my daughter home and care for her I learned a lot of things. I had to give her shots for her anemia had to give her breathing treatment sometimes four times a day also and I also had to learn how to flush a her port four times a day it was hard at first but I knew then that my heart was into caring for people. I've had several patience since then I felt like this was my calling. I got certified with my CNA license and 2007 I worked in nursing homes for about a year I didn't like it that well because I didn't feel the patients got the care that was really needed because we had six to nine patients a day that one person had to care for. I was offered a persiobal caregiving job in 2009 and that's what I have been doing since and I have had several patients then that I've cared for I've had three dementia patients, two cancer patients and I enjoyed my job.
