Hi! My name is Carmen Harper and I am originally from Memphis, TN. I moved to the Hattiesburg area as a teen where my great-grandmother, grandmother, and Great uncle raised me. Although I may not have concrete qualifications I do have a brother with Cystic Fibrosis. At the ageof 22 whileim college my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer. During that time I learned a lot. If I want already a compassionate and empathetic person I was even more so then. She was a wonderful lady and saved me from a life i never would had wanted. I ended up quitting school. Family has always been themost important thing to me, and considering my grandmother was ill and that great uncle I mentioned earlier scored on the autistic side. Mentally he had the mind of a 2 year old. My grandmother could not it all like she had. The doctor appointment for them both and a stubborn grandma that thought she could clean fan blades while standing on a chair after radiation and chemo with no one at home, thoroughly convinced it was time to to stay home. So I did. It was worth it in all of the ways that count. I was lucky to have that time. I received trying that I never wanted, but it did become a blessing in its own way. Maybe I can help with this as well. I also wanted to point out that one of the questions below asked if I smoke. Unfortunately I do. I never smoke in my house or anyone else's for that matter.
