I looked after an elderly couple with multiple medical problems. He passed just 4 months after I started working. Then I looked after his wife for the next 15 months. Provided light housekeeping, prepared meals, help with bathing, dispensed medications as scheduled and enjoyed being a companion to her. I drove her to wherever she wanted to go, helped with shopping, etc. We laughed, cried, and prayed together and I miss her bunches. I also looked after both my parents during their declining health. Mom had Cancer and Dad had Heart and Kidney problems plus Dementia. I transported them to their doctors, made sure medications were dispensed properly, made sure all medications were refilled as needed, provided some housekeeping, meal preparation, physical therapy, etc. At one point, I had to administer pain medication through injections before she was setup on SubQ drip and then IV. I hired took care of the hiring of additional care companions, completed payroll, filed taxes with state and federal, etc. I worked a full time job elsewhere plus spent every waking moment caring for my parents. I would not change a single moment I spent with them. I am looking for a Companion Care position that is either full time or part time. I would like to setup an interview with individual to make sure the client would be comfortable with me plus I do not mind having a schedule that has to change from time to time to meet the client's needs.
