I spent a year and a half working for a retired professor with mobility issues. I helped with gardening/lawn maintenance, filing, laundry, and general light cleaning of the house - things his disability made challenging. I love being a caregiver because it's a job that gives me a chance to get to know people. I loved hearing about his life stories and getting to share articles and knowledge. I would say I have the general skills anyone who's given companion care would have: cleaning/cooking/organizing/maintenance. I was also a safety officer for my college intramural sports department, so I have CPR and first aid training.
