I have worked as a patient care technician at New York Presbyterian Brooklyn, Methodist hospital for a little over 17 years. I have worked pediatrics units, both adult and geriatric psych. My duties were personal hygiene patient care. I was also responsible for charting and taking patient’s vitals doing EKGs and bloods. There were times I was assigned to sit with the patient who had dementia for safety reasons. I am very empathetic for the elderly patients realizing that they now need to depend on someone for many things. This can be very difficult for anyone. So I commit to doing care without trying to take away any of their independence. I do it with love and kindness .
