Originally from Bemidji, MN I moved to Greensboro, NC 1 years ago in a car with little possessions, but already a heart and life packed full of memory, heartache, experience, and determination; all at the ripe age of 20! I remember in the long drive, the narrative I spoke to myself--in a breath both of scolding and encouraging intensity--"you will do this, and you will be okay. Quit trying to fit in and do what your heart is pushing you to do." And that is what I did and do.
Here I am.
I claimed my education despite, doubt, fear, and the challenge's life seems to surprise us with.
Holding a Master's degree in the Study of Law from Wake Forest University School of Law and a Bachelor's in Science degree in Community and Justice Policy Studies from Guilford College.
Earning the Barton Parks Community Justice Award, Center for Principled Problem Solving Community Alumni Fellowship, and appointment from my peers to give the graduation commencement speech.

Challenging and reinventing myself in a journey of personal and professional development: coordinator of a successful higher education in prison program, teacher of justice and policy studies, Americorps volunteer, teacher and tutor of persons incarcerated, and in general, a believer in people--and their incredible beauty of resilience, strength and human potential.

I am here, a stronger woman, friend, and community member driven by a strong sense of community and conviction to the values of empathy, compassion and connection. I understand my own value and niche and see the beauty and struggle of our stories. To me, my heart work has proven to be something profoundly immeasurable.

I spearheaded efforts and grounded significant support to launch a practical liberal arts prison education initiative through Guilford College. I have been a case manager of women and their children experiencing homelessness and addiction, I have been a volunteer preschool teacher, PTA member, and have taught non-violent communication and conflict resolution for 3 years at Guilford College. Upon much discernment, I have decided to follow another one of my heart's calling--caring and working with those in need of companion care.

I truly believe in the connection between people, the time shared to uplift one another, and the empathy and compassion given and received to enrich each life.

Beyond my work and study, my life is filled with breath and heart beats of love for my two beautiful sons; Brendan and Roman.
