I currently work in a nursing home in the activities department but am looking for a position in the private sector. I have at least 15 years work experience working in nursing facilities with residents with dementia. I also worked at Comfort Keepers for about a year until I went on maternity leave. I have a degree in Therapeutic Recreation from an accredited university. I am looking for a position in the evenings during the week with an occasional day shift once a week and every other weekend either day shift or evening. I am able to provide companion care as well as preform basic ADL activities such as bathing, grooming and dressing for someone that doesn't require a lift. I am also able to preform light housekeeping duties including cooking, going grocery shopping, pet care and taking patients to appointments or activities as needed during my shift. I also have some experience with assisting patients with receiving their medications. In addition to performing those duties, I can also provide fun activities during my shift such as leading crafts, games, reading and other such activities that would interest my patients to bring joy to their days and alleviate boredom.
