I do not have a degree but I do have life skills. I took early retirement in 2015 from the VA Medical Center to take care of my Mom who had dementia with lewy bodies and Parkinson's dz. I cared for her for 18 months until she passed away this past June. I fed her, I had to puree her food for her to swallow. I helped the hospice nurse bathe her 3 times weekly. Got her dressed and in her wheel chair every day with periodic naps as needed. I cleaned and shopped for groceries and done all I could to help her with household expenses. As the disease progressed I used a hoyer lift to get her in and out of bed. When she became completely bed ridden I turned her every 3 hours to keep her from getting bed sores. She also acquired an immune disease which attacked her body. Hospice dressed those wounds and I changed the dressing as needed. I know I would be an asset for someone who needed minimal care or for someone to cook and clean and help with every day chores.
