Hello! My name is Becky Castor and I do not have official training as a companion but stayed with my parents 24/7 before they passed. My dad was diagnosed with Alzheimers , was diabetic and had heart problems. My mother was fairly healthy but was stubborn. They both could be a challenge but I was blessed to be their caregiver and companion for the last 7 years of their lives. They lived to be 91 and 97. They lived in a 1 bedroom assistive care apartment. We stayed busy working jigsaw puzzles, drawing and painting, playing cards, reading, and I encouraged them to participate in the activities offered by the facility. It was important for them to get out of their rooms and mingle as long as they could. I would love to help you out with your parent. We can learn so much from our elders if we would just take time to observe and listen to them. I know this can be a difficult time, especially if you live further away. You want to be sure they are well taken care of. I will do my best to be there for you in any way I can be. Thank you.
