Hi! I'm Becky. I have a Master's degree in Social Work and during my internship I worked at a hospital that had a swing bed unit. I became very familiar with families deciding if their loved ones should go home, go to assisted living, or go to a Nursing home. My first job after graduation was with Mercy Home Health & Hospice. They just started the hospice program so I also would relieve the caregivers. I enjoyed getting to know my patients and families and helping them any way I could. It was a very rewarding job but unfortunately I was let go when I failed my licensure exam by one point. I then went into an individual's home to help take care of her. I assisted in toileting, bathing, dressing, giving medications, and cooking. I also helped her with therapy so she wouldn't just sit all day as well as her breathing therapy as she would keep getting pneumonia. Most importantly I was her companion. We would watch game shows together & she would tell me stories of when she was young. Often in the evening I would read to her. I love to read and she did as well. We both had teaching degrees. After 3 months I decided to leave as she became sicker and i felt I was not tainted go take care of her and didn't want anything bad to happen to her.
Now I am looking at taking CNA classes just so I have the proper training as well as CPR & First Aid which I have taken previously but let expire.
