I am a 50 year old woman with two children, ages 21 and 18. I have spent my life taking care of my family and my elderly in laws and parents. Although I have no formal experience as an aide, as I have been an admin asst for most of my life, I have taken care of my father in law for 9 years who had dementia before he passed, and now I help take care of my mom, who is now suffering from dementia. In my career, I worked in an assisted living/nursing home so I am very familiar with senior care and I can tell you that I love helping seniors. Now that my kids have grown, I wish to work a few hours a day and I really enjoy being with seniors. I cook, clean, am very patient and kind, love to decorate and bake and I can color hair and nails and grooming for seniors. I really enjoy hearing stories they tell about the "old" days and if I had one wish in this world, it would be to have one more day with my mother, mother in law or father in law because, although caring for them was hard, I miss them every day. I would thoroughly enjoy being with someone who needs help who just may be suffering from loneliness. My nickname was always "Sunshine" because I try to always make others happy and help them see there is always a bright side to life.
