Hi, my name is Yvonne! I am a positive, patient, dependable, kind hearted and fun nurturer by nature. I have over 40 years experience working with children. I worked at Doane Academy for 20 years in many positions. For the first 15 years, I never missed a single day of work! I have 3 amazing adult daughters. I have been married 35 years.
Prior to COVID, I founded and directed a mind, body and soul summer camp for kids 3yo to 12yo at Doane Academy. We kept their academics fresh by doing many fun and educational activities. We had daily fitness such as Zumba, karate and sports just to name a few. The kids had weekly swim lessons at the YMCA. We discussed and practiced building good characters and kindness. We visited the elderly care facility and enjoyed crafts with our adopted grandparents. We grew and maintained a garden with several different veggies especially tomatoes. Once ready to pick, we went through the process of making homemade sauce and enjoyed a pasta feast together! The kids shared their veggies with the community and their families.
We provided weekly field trips to fun places like Sahara Sam's, The Discovery Museum, Turkey Hill Ice Cream factory and many more!! I also directed the After-Care program at Doane. We had snack, homework time and plenty of playtime for fun and games. I hosted "Fun Friday" parties with movies and popcorn. I also subbed throughout Covid in many positions from Pre- K to 12th grade. I have written references, phone numbers and email addresses from the Assistant Headmaster, fellow teachers, parent of kids I knew from from K through 12 grade, when their kids graduated.
