My passion for companion care began in high school when I was working in a rehabilitation center in Transylvania. I spent much of my time working with individuals with dementia; helping them prepare for the day, complete daily chores, and enjoy organized activities with children at the center.

My global service work later informed my undergraduate experience. During my four years studying Psychology and French at Oberlin, I worked at Kendal, a world class retirement community that encourages individual lifestyles by promoting independence, learning, and civic involvement with the wider community. I was a companion for one or two individuals at a time (some with dementia, some without); escorting them to activities, joining them for meals, reading or singing to them, and assisting with various in-home chores.

Though I've now graduated from college and am pursuing my dream of being an actor, I still pursue some companion care work. I aspire to be a dependable and compassionate addition to someone's day, making difficult tasks easier and mundane tasks more enjoyable. My experience as an actor has taught me to communicate very effectively, and my experience as a nanny has taught me incredible patience. Being a performer and dancer also means that I have a lot of energy and am prepared for any amount of physical activity, from completing household chores to running errands.

Most of all, I foster a deep respect for the people I work with: I'm interested in getting to know a person, not just completing my tasks and leaving. Over the years I've gotten to know some incredible people from all over the world, and I believe that this commitment to really understanding the people I work for has made me the strong and supportive care companion I am today.
