Donna’s Bio
Hello. My name is Donna. I'm happily married and living on Long Island. Our son graduated college and is living and thriving in NYC. I worked in finance after college, but always had a passion for psychology. I went back to school and received a bachelors in psychology. A year later, I went back and became a certified life coach, with concentration in relationships and communication. I was fortunate enough to quit finance and open a successful coaching practice for eight years before Covid hit. Just before the covid ban was lifted, I went on a site to look for dog walking positions in my neighborhood. Before you know it I was looking for caregiver and nanny positions. A family contacted me immediately, and I cared for their little ones for 2 1/2 years. I never re-opened my coaching practice, because I found my true passion. I love being with children. I love teaching them new things, playing with them, and listening to them. It's as if I'm still doing coaching, but with children. I'm using tools to help children communicate at the age/level they're at. For example, I've incorporated craft projects, singing, dance, and games (I spy games) which have helped with learning numbers, the alphabet, and speech. This past December I was hurt and needed disc replacement and fusion. Unfortunately I had to leave my nanny position. Their children will going to be attending full time camp and school this summer and my services are no longer needed anyway. However, we were all heartbroken that I had to leave them earlier than I was suppose too. Both the family and I are extremely upset, but we are still in contact with one another. We communication a couple of times a week, including meetups. We became a family. So, why am I back, searching for a caregiver and/or nanny position? I found my passion. I love interacting with people, which ever age they are. I enjoy making others laugh and being the support they to get through their day. Unfortunately, since my neck surgery, lifting babies or heavy objects is not encouraged by my surgeon at the moment. lol However, I am healthy, active, and still available for any positions for caring for children (4 and up) and/or an elderly person that may need looking for some company. I am CPR certified by the Red Cross, and will come with references. Thanks for your time.
