I took care of my father who was invalid due to stroke and I just finished the course as a DSP, direct support professional. I am a 60-year old female and is compassionate and literate. Speaks English well and willing to work with employer's conditions.
I experienced care giving with my family and I went for training as a Direct care professional.
As a direct support professional, I learned to understand needs and challenges of people with disability. I got a certificate for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, CPR, Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Preventionn, SCIP, and medication administration, AMAP. As a caregiver, I can also provide assistance for clerical works as I am proficient in Microsoft word. I had been working as a baby sitter.
I have no experience as a caregiver except with my family. I have a sister who is a cancer patient and I had been with her during hospitalization and recovery. She is living independently now, but I still provide an assistance now and then.
I also cared for my father who had a debilitating stroke for two years. With this experience, I learned to be patient and care for his diet. As a reference, I believe that I will provide the same care to anybody as my beloved parent.
I am willing to learn more with guidance and direction.
