Brittany’s Bio
Hello, my name is Brittany, and I am a trained medical assistant with over 5 years of experience. I have experience in the areas of primary care, dermatology, and neurology. Through my position in dermatology, I received an in-depth training in proper wound care, including how to properly clean lesions, apply topical medications, and wrap/cover the areas. I am comfortable with helping to change wound dressings, bandages such as Ace wraps, and applying compression garments such as stockings. Through my position working in neurology, I was able to gain knowledge of degenerative illnesses, including MS, ALS, Alzheimer's, dementia, and Parkinson's. I most recently worked in primary care with our patients, largely being elderly with a variety of health concerns. Through this job, I learned how to take INRs, A1c levels, glucose levels, urinalyses, EKGs, and a variety of other tests. I am proficient in preparing IV medications. I am excellent at performing vitals, including manual blood pressure, height/weight, pulse rate, oxygen rate, and temperature. I have a broad knowledge of medications and what they are used for, as well as how and when they should properly be administered. I also have a complex understanding of medical terminology. I have yet to work as an in-home caretaker, but I have experience caring for my uncle and grandfather, who have Parkinson's Disease, and my grandmother, who was bed-bound after spinal surgery. I also assisted with hospice care for my grandfather in his final months, suffering from kidney failure. I am comfortable with assisting female patients in using the restroom, but I am not comfortable at this time with changing diapers. I am comfortable with preparing meals and performing light housework. I am comfortable with working as a companion and doing activities such as going for walks, reading books, playing games, completing crosswords, and puzzles. I am also happy to assist with errands such as grocery shopping, but would prefer not to assist with patient transportation at this time. My current rate is $25/hr.
