Stacey’s Bio
I became a special needs caregiver because my eldest child was born with profound hydrocephalus. When he was born the doctors did not want to shunt him because they thought he would die. He was fed via a NG tube because he had no suck reflex. Through the persistence and efforts of the amazing ICU nurses and myself he began develop a suck reflex and take the bottle. Feeding was slow and often but he eventually did not need any artificial assistance. He was shunted, had 12 surgeries in the first nine months but he survived . Although he was dependent in all the ADL's he was an adorable happy child. The support from others made all the difference in the world both for him and myself.
