Hello,

My name is Margaret. I have extensive experience working with seniors who need everyday types of help and companionship. I also work with Alzheimer’s clients.
I assist with all tasks: bathing and dressing, medication, walks and outside activities, light housekeeping, laundry, doctor appointments, companionship, and more. I have an MA degree in clinical psychology and extensive training and experience with people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. I am skilled at helping people with impaired memory and cognitive decline.
ENGAGEMENT I Ike to bring more meaning, value, and enjoyment into someone’s life even after a diagnosis is given. That said, my role is to make that happen. So, I encourage their friendships with others, take them to events, promote their ongoing social engagements with family and others.
I look to see what activities, hobbies, and interests there are that have thus far made life more fun for the person. And then it’s about seeing if and how those things can stay current and encouraging continued participation. And, if Alzheimer’s has robbed the client of their ability to continue a hobby, then I look to see if there is a way to modify it, so it’s still do-able. Or, I look to find some similar but still enjoyable substitute activity to replace it.
I am also their advocate, and their good judgement when theirs falters. I give hope that small victories can still occur with assistance and encouragement.
