My name is Maria and I have been a caregiver for 20 yrs. I love doing what I do . I love caring for the elderly. Make them feel wanted and to know people out here still do care. I am trained in for,hha,pca,cna.i can give lots of references if you need them. I have allot of experience working with the dementia also.i have had alot of patients on my own,worked with alot of agencies, and also assisted livings,nursing homes.i love to shop with my patients, playing games, running errands,grocertshop for them,walk there dog anything that's going to make them happy.Making them feel wanted . Hygeine is very important in life too so I would encourage as best as possible to take that shower twice a week or at least have a really good sponge bath each day.i know alot of elderly back in the day are not used to taking to many showers and are used to sponge baths so do what u can to try to please them in the best way possible. I've tried in all several different ways to encourage them to bathe and explain to them how important it is to bathe daily . I have experienced very difficult situations in the working field with taking care of the elderly like the bathing issue of course,not wanting to eat anymore,or not wanting to do anything. I have a great outcome with alot of the elderly in life to let them enjoy the things they can still b doing in life.thye are human beings too and we have to make them feel as best as comfortable in certain situations. I just moved here from Florida and trying to get used to this cold weather but hopefully it's not going to stay cold for to much longer and start getting warmer. I moved to NY to marry the love of my lifeso taking chances was a big thing in my life. I really would like to find a job here that I love and I'm going to feel totally comfortable with.looking forward to stay in the healthcare field for a long time. Hey I've been doing it for 20 years now so I think I just about love what I'm doing. I also have worked in childcare to which is similiar to taking care of people but just little ones.every job is a challenge but alot of fun if you like what your doing.i have gone to college for all these type of jobs. Not just a free course but I actually took the cna course for a year on a county college which gave you better training than any of these other little course that give it to you for 3 weeks and certify you.
