I was a care giver for my Grandmother and both my Mother and Father. I also am a Caregiver Coach at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, NY.
We support caregivers by sharing our stories, offering them guidance and resources, and reminding them to take care of themselves. For those who choose to, we call them once a week to lend an ear and support.
I also attend lectures and seminars on alzheimer's, dementia, dysphagia, and end of life.
Most of the people I work with are older, some with families and some without. I've been given a gift to work with and understand their needs and in doing so I get back more than I could ever give. I find light and encouragement in sharing their journey's.
